In an interview with XXL magazine, Brown revealed that he is still trying to determine how he defines love. To us, he just sounds like a big kid who is trying to have his cake and eat it too.
“Love is something I am still learning. It’s just an obstacle that I haven’t yet mastered. I think that’s my biggest hurdle in life.”
Despite our sentiments, at least he is even wondering what love is, which is more than we can say for some young men his age.
But if we are being honest, is it even realistic for us to expect someone to be able to be loyal to one person when there are continents of women who appear to want you flaws and all.
Hopefully in time, Brown will see that all that glitters truly isn’t gold- forgive the cliche-. There is a difference from someone who loves you truthfully and some one who loves you because of what you have.
Look of the day…….Love it? Or Leave it?
We love to love her. Nicki Minaj takes risk a fact that is possibly more respected than her actual fashion sense. Her recent fashion escapade has brought us this colorful number: Camilla Spring 2012 Rainbow Crepe Top and Crystal Embellished Leggings.
While this look may have proven to be too much for some fashion enthusiasts and critics, speaking for the Style and Substance department I can honestly say that I enjoy the look. It’s colorful and engaging for the eye, which is difficult to achieve in an industry that is constantly seeking the next best thing out. It all looked like pure fashion fun- the kind that you need a certain attitude to pull off. I love it. What are your thoughts? Is this aesthetic becoming too expected for the headline rapstress?
Denzel Washington’s advice to his daughter: Beauty fades.
Denzel Washington was featured on the Hollywood Reporter’s annual actor’s roundtable along with fellow actors Jamie Foxx, Matt Damon, Richard Gere, Alan Arkin and John Hawkes. In the wide-ranging interview, Washington discusses advice he gave his daughter Olivia:
“You’re black, you’re a woman, and you’re dark-skinned at that. So you have to be a triple/quadruple threat.” I said: “You gotta learn how to act. You gotta learn how to dance, sing, move onstage.” That’s the only place, in my humble opinion, you really learn how to act. I said: “Look at Viola Davis. That’s who you want to be. Forget about the little pretty girls; if you’re relying on that, when you hit 40, you’re out the door. You better have some chops.”
What are your thoughts? Is he right? We agree with him but do you think there will ever be a time that we see past color- at least in the Black community?
